For international students graduating in the US, staying after studies can be a stressful and uncertain journey. The Trump administration’s new “Gold Card” visa program aims to change that — at a steep price.
There are two options available through the program: the $1 million Individual Gold Card for those looking for expedited US residency. Corporate Gold Card: $2 million per employee for US businesses looking to support top international graduates and other foreign talent. This program helps businesses avoid long-standing visa backlogs by focusing on elite graduates, particularly in STEM, AI, biotech, finance, and semiconductors. The corporate Gold Card could transform years of uncertainty into a single employer-backed decision for Chinese and Indian students, who frequently have to wait the longest for employment visas after graduation. But this isn't a mass visa fix; rather, it's a premium solution. It doesn't replace current routes like OPT or H-1B, and the majority of employers won't be able to afford it. However, it provides speed, certainty, and career continuity that the current system cannot for a small portion of graduates.
