COURSE CURRICULUM

The five-year integrated Pharmacy program provides a comprehensive education in both the basic sciences and the professional practice of pharmacy. It combines scientific knowledge with practical and clinical training to prepare students for a wide range of roles in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry. Teaching is delivered through diverse methods including lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, small-group learning, problem-based learning, laboratory and dispensing practicals, site visits, clinical case studies, and online learning activities such as discussion boards and group assignments. The curriculum is organised into integrated modules covering key areas such as natural sources of drugs, pharmaceutical formulation and technology, pharmacology and clinical therapeutics across different body systems, pharmaceutical chemistry and drug design, sterile products and biotechnology, addiction pharmacy, and the practice and management of pharmacy. Students also study professional practice, public health, communication skills, and interprofessional learning. Assessment includes written examinations and continuous assessment such as essays, lab reports, and objective structured clinical examinations. Work experience in both clinical and non-clinical settings is included throughout the program. In the fourth and optional fifth year, students complete a research project in areas such as medicines use in specific populations, drug development, or novel drug delivery systems. This structure ensures graduates develop strong scientific knowledge, clinical competence, and research skills to support safe and effective medicine use.
