COURSE CURRICULUM

To gain admission into the Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) Intervention Specialist program at Wright State University, students must complete at least 60 credit hours that apply toward the degree, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.6, and earn a grade of C or higher in all required concentration-area courses as well as key education courses including ED 2100, ED 2600, ED 2700, ED 2800, and EDS 2900. Students must also complete ED 2650 with a passing grade and successfully meet professional disposition requirements by earning ratings of 3 or higher on all sections of the Candidate Disposition Inventory (CDI). In addition, applicants must demonstrate foundational skills in reading, mathematics, and writing through standardized test scores. Acceptable reading scores include an ACT Reading score of 19+, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 520+, or Praxis Core Reading score of 162+. Mathematics requirements include an ACT Math score of 17+, SAT Math score of 510+, or Praxis Core Math score of 158+. Writing requirements include an ACT Writing score of 6+, SAT Essay-Writing Dimension score of 5+, or Praxis Core Writing score of 165+. Students following a Wright Path articulation agreement may have slightly different admission course requirements and should consult their academic advisor for guidance. Because ACT, SAT, and Praxis examinations have changed over time, the date the test was taken can affect score eligibility, so students should verify requirements using the university’s official admission guidelines. Admission standards may also change due to accreditation updates, making it important for prospective students to regularly review program requirements and remain in contact with academic advisors. Overall, admission is considered moderately competitive, requiring satisfactory academic performance, professional behavior, and basic competency in reading, writing, and mathematics before entering the specialized teacher education cohort.
