COURSE CURRICULUM

Wright State University offers multiple undergraduate pathways across science and social science disciplines, including Physics (B.S.), Physiology and Neuroscience (B.S.), Psychology (B.A. and B.S.), Political Science (B.A.), and Public Health (B.A. and B.S.), each designed to build strong analytical, communication, and research skills while preparing students for either graduate study or direct entry into professional careers. The Physics B.S. emphasizes advanced mathematics, experimental and theoretical physics, and computational modeling, with core courses in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics, and statistical physics, preparing students for careers in engineering, research laboratories, or technology industries, as well as graduate programs in physics or related STEM fields. The Physiology and Neuroscience program focuses on how organ systems and neural processes interact, combining biology, anatomy, neuroscience, and laboratory research experience, and prepares students for careers in medicine, biotechnology, research, and healthcare-related fields, with strong emphasis on lab techniques, capstone research, and interdisciplinary science. Psychology programs (B.A. and B.S.) examine human behavior, cognition, emotion, and mental processes through scientific methods, statistics, and research design, with core courses covering cognition, learning, personality, abnormal psychology, social psychology, and neuroscience, and lead to careers in counseling, HR, education, marketing, criminal justice, and research, while also supporting graduate study in psychology and related fields. Political Science (B.A.) explores government systems, political behavior, international relations, law, and public policy, helping students develop critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills applicable to government service, law school, diplomacy, internships, and nonprofit work. Public Health (B.A. and B.S.) programs focus on population health, epidemiology, health policy, environmental health, and disease prevention, with strong training in statistics, biology, communication, and data analysis, preparing students for careers in health education, epidemiology, policy, and medical or public health graduate studies, with internships, capstone projects, and applied community engagement as key components. Across all programs, students complete general education core requirements alongside major-specific coursework, ensuring a balance of scientific knowledge, communication ability, and real-world application, ultimately supporting diverse career pathways in science, healthcare, policy, research, education, and industry.
