COURSE CURRICULUM

Integrated Science Studies (ISS) is a flexible interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science program designed to build strong foundations across biology, chemistry, physics, geology, and statistics while allowing students to specialize in areas such as agriculture, environmental science, or pre-health studies. The program emphasizes both breadth and depth, combining classroom learning with extensive laboratory work, field research, and a senior capstone experience to develop practical scientific and analytical skills. Students study core scientific concepts including genetics, ecology, earth systems, microbiology, physics, and chemistry, while also applying these principles to real-world problems such as environmental sustainability, climate change, agriculture productivity, ecosystem management, and human health. Depending on the chosen concentration, learners may focus on agricultural systems like soil science, animal nutrition, pest management, and sustainable farming, or environmental pathways including geology, paleobiology, water systems, and GIS applications, or pre-health preparation covering anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and disease processes. Across all tracks, the program develops competencies in scientific communication, data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving, preparing graduates for diverse careers in environmental consulting, agriculture, healthcare support, research, and laboratory sciences, as well as advanced study in medicine, veterinary science, or graduate research. The curriculum also requires strong foundational courses in mathematics, statistics, and natural sciences, ensuring students can integrate quantitative reasoning with scientific inquiry. Admission is relatively accessible with modest GPA and credit requirements, but progression requires consistent academic performance and completion of key gateway science courses. Overall, ISS is structured to produce versatile science professionals who can adapt to multiple industries by understanding how biological, physical, and environmental systems interact, making them well-prepared for today’s complex scientific and societal challenges.
