COURSE CURRICULUM

Industrial and Systems Engineering (BSISE) is a rigorous engineering program that prepares students to design, analyze, and improve complex systems involving people, materials, information, equipment, and energy across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, aerospace, and technology. To gain full admission, students must complete at least 24 college-level credit hours, maintain a minimum 2.25 GPA, and earn a C or higher in key foundation courses including English composition, calculus, and physics. The curriculum builds strong skills in mathematics, physics, programming, statistics, operations research, machine learning, human factors, ergonomics, and systems design, while also emphasizing communication, teamwork, ethics, and data-driven decision-making. Core engineering courses include calculus-based physics, computer programming, engineering design, and discrete mathematics, followed by advanced subjects such as simulation, supply chain systems, Six Sigma, engineering economy, and human-system interaction. Students also choose supporting science courses (biology or chemistry) and complete a structured sequence of design projects and laboratory-based learning. Graduates are trained under ABET-aligned outcomes, meaning they are prepared to solve complex engineering problems, work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, apply modern engineering tools, conduct experiments, and adapt to emerging technologies. The program also includes pathways to combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees, allowing students to accelerate into graduate study in industrial and human factors engineering. Overall, it prepares graduates for careers in process improvement, manufacturing systems, operations research, supply chain optimization, quality engineering, and human-centered system design.
