COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSB in Finance at Wright State University is a 120-credit business degree that provides a strong foundation in financial management, investments, financial analysis, and business decision-making. Students complete core business courses in accounting, economics, marketing, management, business law, information systems, statistics, and operations management before specializing in finance. The program offers three concentrations: General Finance, Investments, and Business Analytics. The General Finance concentration provides flexibility through advanced finance electives and is suitable for careers in corporate finance, banking, financial planning, and financial management. The Investments concentration is aligned with the CFA Institute Candidate Body of Knowledge and includes courses such as Portfolio Management, Financial Data Analytics, Analysis of Corporate Financial Information, and FinTech, preparing students for careers as investment analysts, portfolio managers, trust officers, and wealth management professionals. The Business Analytics concentration combines finance with data analysis, econometrics, forecasting, data visualization, and business analytics, preparing graduates for roles such as financial analyst, data analyst, research analyst, credit analyst, and quantitative finance specialist. Throughout the program, students develop skills in financial modeling, investment evaluation, risk assessment, data analysis, problem-solving, communication, and the use of financial software applications. Compared with Entrepreneurship, Finance generally offers more structured career paths and stronger entry-level job opportunities, while compared with Economics it is more practical and industry-focused.
