Across the undergraduate offerings at Wright State University, the Chemistry BS program provides a structured yet flexible pathway focused on analytical, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, supported by strong foundations in mathematics and physics, with options for ACS certification or chemistry education tracks; it prepares students for careers as professional chemists, graduate study, or professional schools such as medicine or dentistry, and includes significant laboratory work, research opportunities, and electives like spectroscopy, biochemistry, and nanoscience. The Communication Studies BA emphasizes a social scientific understanding of how humans create and interpret messages across interpersonal, organizational, and mediated contexts, building skills in writing, speaking, critical thinking, media analysis, and intercultural competence, while offering practical exposure through media, public relations, and communication activities; graduates develop versatile abilities for careers in media, public affairs, organizational communication, and related fields, with coursework covering persuasion, interpersonal communication, organizational dynamics, and research methods. The Computer Engineering BSCE program is an ABET-accredited engineering degree centered on the design and integration of hardware and software systems, combining computer science, electrical engineering, digital systems, embedded systems, operating systems, and algorithms, with extensive laboratory and team-based project work; it emphasizes problem-solving, engineering design, experimentation, and ethical responsibility, and prepares graduates for roles such as software engineer, systems engineer, embedded systems developer, or advanced study, with technical electives allowing specialization. Across all three programs, students complete a general education core that includes writing, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, ensuring broad academic development alongside major-specific depth. Each program also encourages electives, minors, research, internships, and interdisciplinary learning, allowing students to tailor their degrees toward professional goals in science, communication, or engineering while building transferable skills in analysis, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking that support careers in industry, research, education, and technology-driven sectors.
