COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) in Accountancy is designed to prepare students for professional careers in public, corporate, governmental, and nonprofit accounting by providing a strong foundation in accounting principles, business operations, financial management, technology, and analytical skills. The program offers three concentration options—General Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Accounting Analytics—allowing students to tailor their studies according to their career interests. Students gain knowledge in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, accounting systems, business analytics, and management accounting while developing critical thinking, professional communication, and technology skills required in modern accounting environments. The curriculum combines a comprehensive general education foundation, a business core covering economics, finance, marketing, management, law, information systems, and supply chain management, and specialized accounting coursework including Intermediate Accounting, Auditing, Federal Income Tax, Accounting Systems Design, and Business Analytics. Students interested in financial management can pursue coursework that supports preparation for professional certifications, while those planning to become Certified Public Accountants (CPA) are encouraged to continue into the Master of Accountancy program to meet the 150-credit-hour educational requirement commonly required for CPA licensure. The program also prepares students for professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Academic integrity and ethical conduct are emphasized throughout the program, reflecting the standards expected in the accounting profession. Students benefit from participation in Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting honor society, and from a learning environment supported by highly qualified faculty. The program is offered through the Raj Soin College of Business, which holds prestigious accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Both the business school and its accounting programs maintain separate AACSB accreditation, a distinction achieved by only a small percentage of institutions worldwide. Graduates leave the program prepared to perform professional accounting tasks, analyze financial information, communicate effectively in business settings, utilize accounting technologies, and pursue careers in accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, consulting, law, and related business fields.
