COURSE CURRICULUM

The History B.A. program is designed to develop strong analytical, writing, and research skills while helping students understand and interpret past events through a critical and evidence-based approach. The program does not require special admission beyond general university entry, making it accessible to any student interested in studying history. Throughout the degree, students learn how to clearly communicate complex historical ideas through essays, research papers, and other academic writing formats while also gaining training in the core methods used by historians, such as critical analysis, contextualization, and historiographical reasoning. A major focus of the program is working with both primary sources (original historical documents) and secondary sources (scholarly interpretations), allowing students to evaluate evidence, identify patterns, and build well-supported historical arguments. The curriculum emphasizes independent thinking and research skills, culminating in an advanced research seminar where students complete a significant academic project. Students also complete a wide range of history courses covering American, European, and global history at both introductory and advanced levels, along with specialized upper-level topics that deepen subject knowledge. In addition to history coursework, students are required to study a foreign language and take courses in philosophy, critical thinking, and research methods, strengthening their communication and analytical abilities. The program also offers an honors track for highly motivated students who wish to conduct independent research and complete a thesis under faculty supervision. Graduates of the program are prepared for careers in education, law, public service, government agencies, museums, archives, journalism, and research, as well as for graduate studies in history and related fields. Overall, the degree builds strong critical thinking, writing, and interpretive skills, enabling students to understand complex historical and contemporary issues and communicate their insights effectively in academic and professional settings.
