COURSE CURRICULUM
The School of Fine and Performing Arts at Wright State University offers a limited number of Special Talent Scholarships for both full-time and part-time continuing students majoring in Studio Art or Art History who will be enrolled during the 2026–2027 academic year. Eligible applicants must be pursuing either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree and have completed at least 12 credit hours within the Art and Art History programs, including courses in progress during the current spring semester. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA annually, as doing so may increase access to additional scholarship opportunities, although submitting a FAFSA is not required for eligibility. Throughout their academic career, Studio Art and Art History majors may receive up to five Special Talent Scholarship awards. To remain eligible for future awards, scholarship recipients must complete the required number of departmental credit hours during the following academic year. Specifically, after receiving a scholarship, students must earn at least 12 credit hours in Art and Art History, including courses in progress during the spring semester when applying again. Studio Art applicants are required to submit a portfolio containing no more than 20 works, with a maximum of 10 pieces in any single medium such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, or photography. Sculptural works may be represented through slides or digital images. Only artwork completed at Wright State and produced since the previous scholarship review is eligible for consideration. Art History majors may instead submit two academic papers, including instructor comments and grades, either in person or electronically along with the required scholarship application. Students must register and obtain scholarship application materials and submission guidelines from the School of Fine and Performing Arts office located in the Creative Arts Center between February 9 and March 11, 2026. Portfolio submission and jury review are scheduled for March 13, 2026, with portfolios available for pickup later that same day. These scholarships recognize artistic achievement, academic commitment, and creative development while helping talented students continue their education and professional growth in the visual arts.
