COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Supply Chain Management at Wichita State University is a 36-credit-hour AACSB-accredited graduate program that combines advanced business education with specialized expertise in global supply chain operations. Students with strong business backgrounds may receive advanced standing through equivalent credit for preparatory courses, while those from non-business disciplines may need to complete prerequisite coursework in Business Calculus, Introductory Business Statistics, accounting, finance, marketing, management, and economics if deficiencies exist. The concentration is designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage modern supply chains and support organizational decision-making across multiple business functions. Building upon the MBA core curriculum, the program focuses on the strategic and operational aspects of supply chain management, including operations, logistics, transportation, distribution, procurement, outsourcing, and risk management. Students learn how to coordinate the flow of products, services, information, and resources across global networks while improving efficiency, reducing costs, and creating value for organizations and customers. All MBA students complete common core courses that include Marketing Research or Business Decision Making and Analysis, Law and Ethics for Business, Managerial Finance, Organizational Behavior, and Advanced Strategic Management. Supply Chain Management students also complete specialized courses in Managerial Accounting, Operations Management, Management Information Systems, International Business and Competitiveness, and Supply Chain Management. To deepen their expertise, students select two advanced courses from Global Procurement and Outsourcing, Logistics and Warehouse Analytics, and Risk Management in Global Supply Chains. These courses provide valuable insight into sourcing strategies, inventory management, warehouse optimization, transportation systems, analytics, and methods for addressing disruptions and uncertainties in global supply networks. The program also includes an applied learning requirement that is fulfilled through project-based experiences in core courses such as Marketing Research or Business Decision Making and Analysis and Management Information Systems, allowing students to apply classroom concepts to real-world business challenges. Graduates develop strong analytical, leadership, operational, and strategic decision-making skills that prepare them for careers as supply chain managers, logistics managers, procurement specialists, operations managers, transportation managers, distribution managers, sourcing analysts, consulting professionals, and executive leaders. The program equips graduates with the expertise needed to lead value creation and operational excellence in increasingly complex global supply chains.
