COURSE CURRICULUM

The accelerated Bachelor of Science in Health Management to Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at Wichita State University provides academically qualified undergraduate students with an efficient pathway to earn both undergraduate and graduate credits simultaneously. Designed primarily for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Management or Health Science within the Department of Public Health Sciences, the online accelerated program allows students to complete up to nine graduate credit hours while finishing their bachelor’s degree. These dual-credit courses count toward both degrees, helping students save time and reduce the overall cost of graduate education. Recommended dual-credit courses include PHS 621, PHS 622, and either PHS 562 or PHS 609. All nine credit hours apply to the BS in Health Management degree, while for the Master of Health Administration program, PHS 621 and PHS 622 fulfill core graduate requirements and PHS 562 or PHS 609 satisfies an elective requirement. This structure enables students to make a seamless transition from undergraduate study to graduate-level health administration education. To receive graduate credit, students must achieve a grade of at least 3.0 in each dual-credit course and meet graduate-level learning outcomes. Each course intended for joint credit must be identified at the time of enrollment, and students must complete a dual enrollment form specifying the courses that will count toward graduate credit. Students must also maintain a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75 throughout the program to remain eligible. Individuals who have previously been admitted to a graduate degree program at Wichita State are not eligible for admission into the accelerated pathway. Until the bachelor’s degree is officially awarded, students are considered undergraduates for purposes of academic policies, regulations, and exception requests. Overall, the program offers an excellent opportunity for motivated students to accelerate their educational progress, gain advanced knowledge in healthcare leadership and administration, and prepare for management careers in hospitals, healthcare systems, public health organizations, insurance companies, and other healthcare-related institutions while reducing both the time and expense required to earn a graduate degree.
