COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Applied Engineering with a concentration in Engineering Management is a 120-credit-hour program that combines engineering, technology, business, and management education to prepare students for leadership roles in technical industries. The curriculum includes 32 credit hours in mathematics and natural sciences, 64 credit hours of major coursework, and university general education requirements. Students develop a strong technical foundation through studies in Calculus I and II, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Environmental Science, Energy and Resources, and Computational Mathematics using MATLAB. The Applied Engineering core provides practical engineering knowledge through courses in Statics, Strength and Mechanics of Materials, Statistical Process Control, Decision Analysis in Technology, Energy Management and Sustainability, Engineering Graphics, Manufacturing Methods and Materials, and a sequence of design projects that progress from introductory design experiences to a two-semester senior capstone project. The Engineering Management concentration combines engineering expertise with business and organizational skills through coursework in facilities management, applied machine learning, engineering project management, financial accounting, operations management, business law, business software applications, and electronics or circuits. Students also complete the Engineering+ program, which further enhances professional development and workforce readiness. Technical electives allow students to customize their studies according to career interests, with options such as industrial controls and instrumentation or renewable energy systems including solar and wind engineering. The curriculum emphasizes practical problem-solving, leadership, project planning, data analysis, quality management, sustainability, and decision-making within engineering environments. Students gain hands-on experience through laboratories, applied projects, and industry-focused learning opportunities that prepare them to address real-world engineering and management challenges.
