COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting is a 120-credit-hour program designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of accounting, business, finance, and professional communication. The curriculum includes 34–35 credit hours of general education requirements, 27 credit hours of BBA core business courses, and 20 credit hours of advanced standing requirements that establish a strong foundation in business principles. The accounting major consists of specialized courses that develop expertise in financial reporting, accounting systems, taxation, auditing, cost management, and data analytics. Major courses include Intermediate Financial Accounting I and II, Accounting Information Systems, Cost Accounting, Introduction to Federal Income Tax, Data Analytics for Accountants, Advanced Financial Accounting, and Principles of Auditing. Students also complete Money and Banking to strengthen their understanding of financial institutions and economic systems. A college requirement for accounting majors is Composition: Business, Professional and Technical Writing, which helps students develop professional communication and business writing skills essential for the workplace. In addition, students complete 8–9 credit hours of open electives, allowing them to explore other academic interests or strengthen career-related skills while meeting the graduation requirement of 120 total credit hours. The program is structured to prepare graduates for careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, auditing, taxation, financial analysis, banking, consulting, and management. Students gain analytical, technical, problem-solving, and communication skills that are highly valued by employers. The curriculum also provides a strong academic foundation for students planning to pursue professional certifications such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. Through a combination of business education, specialized accounting coursework, and elective flexibility, the program equips graduates with the knowledge and practical skills needed for success in a wide range of accounting and business careers while supporting future professional and academic advancement.
