COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Counseling at Webster University offers two distinct emphases: Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Community Counseling. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling emphasis requires 60 credit hours, with core courses covering topics such as human growth, counseling techniques, ethics, psychodiagnostics, trauma counseling, and addictions. Students must also complete field experience courses including practicum and internship, which require a minimum of 700 clinical hours, with specific state licensure requirements for fieldwork. This emphasis is available at the St. Louis, Columbia, and Myrtle Beach campuses and is CACREP accredited. The Community Counseling emphasis, offered solely at the Geneva, Switzerland campus, requires 48 credit hours and focuses on similar core counseling courses but with a different international context. Both emphases include field experience requirements and provide electives that can align with licensure goals. Students are advised to consult with faculty advisors to ensure proper course selection and meet state licensure requirements.
