COURSE CURRICULUM

The finance major curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in business and specialized knowledge in finance. The core curriculum begins with essential courses such as College Algebra, Financial Accounting, and Business Communications. Students also complete coursework in statistics, economics, business law, marketing, and management. Career-focused courses like Career Exploration, Personal Branding, and Career Management Strategies help students prepare for professional success. Core business courses such as Business Information Systems, Business Analytics, Operations Management, and Principles of Finance offer students the skills needed to understand and operate within today’s business environment. The curriculum culminates in a capstone course, Managerial Policies and Strategies, which integrates knowledge from all areas of business.The finance major consists of 24 credit hours in specialized coursework. Students take Managerial Accounting to gain insight into internal financial decision-making. Financial Management and Investments courses provide a deeper understanding of managing assets and portfolios. Financial Institutions explores the roles and functions of banks and other intermediaries. Financial Statement Analysis equips students to assess a company’s financial health through its financial reports. Students also select one upper-level finance course and two additional upper-level courses from economics, accounting, finance, or an internship option to tailor their education to their interests and career goals.This program prepares students to analyze capital budgeting decisions, evaluate financial performance, and understand investment strategies and financial markets. Graduates will be equipped to pursue careers in banking, financial planning, investment analysis, or corporate finance. Students interested in professional certifications such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) can align their electives accordingly. The program combines technical, analytical, and professional skills to ensure students are well-prepared for success in the finance industry.
