COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum for students pursuing a theatre-focused audio education at Webster University includes a comprehensive blend of conservatory training, technical courses, and historical context studies. At the core is the Conservatory sequence (CONS 1010 through CONS 4020), a structured series of courses totaling 72 credit hours. This sequence provides students with in-depth practical and theoretical training in theatre, ensuring a strong foundation in performance, production, collaboration, and leadership.Complementing the conservatory sequence are several specialized courses in audio technology. These include Audio Technology Lecture (AUDI 1110), Lab (AUDI 1120), and Practicum (AUDI 1130), which offer hands-on experience with sound equipment and techniques. Students also take Signals and Systems (AUDI 1121), which introduces the technical and scientific principles of audio systems, and an audio elective for further specialization. The Fundamentals of Music for Audio (MUSC 1005) helps students understand music theory as it relates to audio production.Design Concepts (DESN 1210) introduces students to visual and spatial design principles, while Light, Sound and Electricity (SCIN 1410) provides a scientific background relevant to technical theatre and audio work.
