COURSE CURRICULUM

The international relations major requires 36 credit hours, including core courses such as INTL 1050/POLT 1050 Introduction to International Relations, POLT 1070 Introduction to Political Theory (or INTL 2680 International Relations Theory), POLT 1080 Introduction to Comparative Politics (or other political science courses), INTL 2700 Methods of Political Inquiry (or POLT 2600 Research Methods), INTL 1500 The World System since 1500, and a 2000-level or above HIST course with an international focus. Additionally, students must complete three sub-field courses (9 hours) from options like INTL 2030 International Law, INTL 3100 International Political Economy, POLT 3310 Conduct of Foreign Policy, INTL 3800 International Security, INTL 3500 Environmental and Energy Security, INTL 3700 International Organizations, and INTL 4600 International Relations Seminar. A research requirement (INTL 4000) is also required, to be taken with a designated 3000-level or 4000-level course. Lastly, students must choose 9 elective hours, with at least 6 hours focused on international topics.
