COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Learning Technologies at the University of North Texas focuses on how rapidly evolving technology is transforming education, training, and workplace learning, and prepares students to lead in this changing landscape. The program is supported by faculty who are nationally recognized for their expertise in instructional design, educational technology, and learning sciences, particularly in how learning technologies influence the delivery, management, and evaluation of modern education and training systems. The curriculum is designed to support career advancement by equipping students with both theoretical understanding and practical skills that lead to upward mobility in education, corporate training, and technology-driven instructional roles. Students can choose from multiple specialized tracks depending on their career goals. The Instructional Systems Technology track emphasizes the use and development of systems and technologies that support learning delivery, preparing graduates for leadership roles such as learning systems developers, managers, and directors, in addition to instructional roles. The Instructional Systems Design track focuses on designing effective, efficient, and engaging learning experiences, preparing students to work as instructional designers in both academic institutions and corporate environments where training and curriculum development are essential. The Teaching and Learning with Technology track is aimed at educators and professionals working in K-20 and higher education settings, with an emphasis on integrating technology into teaching practices, applying learning theories, conducting research, and improving online and blended learning environments through innovative instructional methods. The program is further strengthened by access to specialized research and innovation facilities, including the Advanced Research Lab, the Center for Knowledge Solutions, the Institute for the Integration of Technology into Teaching and Learning, the Technology and Applied Research in Autism Laboratory, and the Texas Center for Educational Technology, all of which provide opportunities for applied research and hands-on experience. Overall, the program prepares graduates to become leaders in educational innovation, instructional design, and technology-enhanced learning across diverse professional settings.
