COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s in Environmental Science at the University of North Texas offers a rigorous and research-intensive curriculum designed to prepare students for advanced careers in environmental science, research, and conservation. The program has helped students earn prestigious appointments and awards from respected organizations such as the Entomological Society of America, reflecting the strength of its academic and research training. Graduate education and research activities are supported through advanced facilities located within the Life Sciences Complex, the Science Research Building, and the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building, providing students with access to modern laboratories and specialized research environments. The Life Sciences Complex, recognized with Gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for sustainability, includes an aquatics laboratory and four climate-controlled rooftop research greenhouses that support diverse environmental and biological research projects. Many qualified students receive financial support through competitive teaching and research assistantships funded by faculty research grants, including nine-month stipends and tuition scholarships available to entering master’s and doctoral students. Students also work with internationally recognized faculty researchers who have earned honors from major scientific organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Society for Microbiology.
