COURSE CURRICULUM

The Educational Leadership Master’s program is part of a highly recognized College of Education that has earned strong regional and national rankings for excellence in preparing educators, administrators, counselors, and other education professionals. The college has been ranked first in the North Texas region among public graduate schools, third among public graduate schools in Texas, and within the top 100 nationally according to U.S. News & World Report, as well as ranked ninth in Texas and 66th in the South by Best-Education-Schools.com, reflecting its strong academic reputation. The program is designed to support students in advancing their careers in educational leadership by providing expert faculty guidance and preparation for both master’s and doctoral-level study. Faculty advisors play an important role in helping students successfully complete their degrees and pursue further academic goals, and many faculty members bring real-world leadership experience as principals, central office administrators, assistant superintendents, and superintendents, which strengthens the practical relevance of the program. Students also benefit from financial support opportunities such as the Donald A. Buchholz Scholarship for doctoral students in educational leadership and the Mike Moses Endowed Fellowship, which supports advanced Ed.D. and Ph.D. students through a one-year campus research fellowship. The College of Education is widely recognized for its excellence across multiple education-related fields, including teaching, administration, counseling, kinesiology, health promotion, and play therapy. Graduates of the Educational Leadership program can pursue a variety of leadership roles in education, including positions as principals, academic directors, college provosts, curriculum developers, educational consultants, and tutors. The curriculum includes courses such as instructional leadership, management of school resources, race, class and gender issues in education, school communications and public relations, administration and leadership for student services, and campus-level school law, all designed to build the skills necessary for effective and equitable leadership in educational settings.
