COURSE CURRICULUM

The Logistics and Supply Chain Management degree offers a strong, industry-focused education designed to prepare students for professional success across the global supply chain. One key highlight of the program is the opportunity to earn professional certification in transportation, logistics, and distribution (CTLD) from the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, giving graduates a competitive advantage in the job market. The program has also gained national recognition, with Gartner Research ranking it 6th among undergraduate logistics and supply chain management programs in North America, which helps attract major corporations to recruit UNT students. Faculty members contribute actively to the field through research published in leading journals such as the Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Journal of the Operational Research Society, European Journal of Operational Research, and the International Journal of Production Economics, ensuring students learn from experts engaged in cutting-edge research. The program benefits from its location in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, a major national hub for distribution, transportation, and logistics, where students have access to internships and full-time positions at more than 250 companies. Students may also complete the degree at UNT at Frisco, gaining direct exposure to industry partners while completing upper-level coursework. The curriculum is developed with input from industry leaders, including the Dallas/Fort Worth Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the North Texas Commission’s Logistics Development and Marketing Committee, and an advisory board of senior logistics executives, ensuring strong alignment with real-world needs. Graduates are prepared for diverse roles such as freight broker, logistics or operations analyst, account sales representative, production and inventory planner, and positions in fleet, railroad, and international logistics such as ocean and marine freight management. Career advancement opportunities include roles like account executive, director of logistics, director of transportation, director of operations, and vice president of supply chain management. Coursework includes subjects such as Global Alliances and International Supply Chain Management, E-Logistics in Supply Chain Management, Advanced Logistics Management, Introduction to Data Warehousing, Modeling for Business Intelligence, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, all designed to build strong analytical, operational, and strategic skills for global business success.
