COURSE CURRICULUM

The UNT Organ Performance program offers students exceptional musical training through a faculty that includes educators, performers, researchers, and composers with credentials from some of the most respected organ programs in the United States and Europe. Faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized musicians who have performed with major ensembles such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Minnesota Opera Orchestra, and Dallas Opera Orchestra. As part of one of the nation’s most comprehensive colleges of music, students have opportunities to interact with world-renowned music scholars and artists through specialized lectures, master classes, and events hosted across the College of Music. UNT’s location near Dallas and Fort Worth provides valuable professional and performance opportunities with organizations such as the Dallas Bach Society, Texas Camerata, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra, and regional orchestras in Irving, Plano, and Richardson. Students also benefit from outstanding facilities, including the Murchison Performing Arts Center, which houses the Winspear Performance Hall and the Lyric Theater, both known for their state-of-the-art acoustics and professional rehearsal spaces. The College of Music attracts talented musicians from around the world and maintains a long-standing tradition of excellence in music education and performance. A degree in Organ Performance prepares students for careers as symphony orchestra members, professional band performers, soloists, chamber musicians, church musicians, studio musicians for film and television, and private music instructors. Alumni from UNT performance programs have achieved distinguished careers in major orchestras and military bands throughout the United States and internationally. Coursework within the program includes Aural Skills IV, Organ studies, Organ Literature and Pedagogy, Keyboard Senior Recital Capstone, and Seminar in Church Music, allowing students to strengthen their technical performance abilities, repertoire knowledge, musicianship, teaching methods, and professional preparation for successful careers in both sacred and concert music environments.
