COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics Department at the University of North Texas provides strong academic and professional support to help students succeed in both their studies and future careers. The department offers several scholarships to support students financially as they pursue their degrees, and also provides employment opportunities such as tutoring and grading positions that help students strengthen their understanding while gaining valuable teaching experience. In addition, the department hosts conferences, seminars, and colloquiums that expose students to a variety of perspectives and allow them to engage with ongoing mathematical research. Upper-level mathematics majors often have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members on research grants, giving them meaningful hands-on research experience that is especially beneficial for those planning to pursue graduate studies. Students also have access to a comprehensive mathematics library with more than 500 journal subscriptions, many of which are available electronically, ensuring they can stay updated with current research and developments in the field. The Math Lab provides a quiet and supportive environment where students can complete assignments and receive assistance from knowledgeable peers with strong mathematical backgrounds. Many faculty members in the department are internationally recognized experts who have also served as consultants for private companies and government agencies, adding real-world insight to their teaching. A mathematics degree from UNT prepares students for a wide range of careers in business, industry, medicine, government, education, and scientific research. Graduates can apply their skills to areas such as financial modeling, environmental prediction, biological data analysis, aerospace design, and education. Alumni from the program have gone on to work for organizations such as Microsoft, NASA, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and school districts across the United States. Coursework includes advanced topics such as Number Theory, Vector Calculus, Dynamical Systems, Applied Statistics, Introduction to Metamathematics, and Real Analysis I, all of which build strong analytical, problem-solving, and theoretical foundations for diverse professional and academic pathways.
