COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Sport Management at the University of New Haven is a well-established graduate program designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the sports industry and related fields through a strong foundation in business education and applied experiential learning. As one of the oldest sport management programs in the United States to be continuously housed within a business school, it emphasizes the integration of modern business principles with the unique operational, financial, and organizational demands of the sports industry. The program is built around the goal of developing future industry leaders who are capable of applying strategic thinking, analytical tools, and practical experience to real-world sports management challenges. Students engage in hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that connect academic theory with professional practice, ensuring they are prepared for dynamic roles across professional sports organizations, collegiate athletics, sport marketing agencies, event management firms, and related industries. The program offers flexibility through three distinct pathways tailored to student career goals: a 30-credit general Master of Science in Sport Management, a 30-credit concentration in Collegiate Athletic Administration, and a 36-credit STEM-designated concentration in Business Analytics. The Business Analytics concentration focuses on advanced quantitative methods, predictive modeling, data management, and statistical analysis, with an emphasis on how data informs strategic decision-making in sports organizations and how to effectively communicate analytical insights to stakeholders. The Collegiate Athletic Administration track provides specialized knowledge in the governance, structure, and operational management of college athletic departments, preparing students for administrative roles in intercollegiate sports. The general track allows students to customize their academic experience through elective coursework in sport management and business disciplines aligned with their professional interests.
