COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) is a 30-credit graduate program designed to prepare students for advanced roles in systems engineering, operations research, manufacturing, supply chain management, and process optimization across a wide range of industries. The program is built around 21 credits of core courses that provide a strong foundation in industrial engineering principles, including computing and modeling in industrial engineering, applied probability and statistical methods, optimization and applications, quality analysis, supply chain management, system simulation with a laboratory component, and design of experiments. These core courses equip students with the analytical and quantitative tools needed to model complex systems, analyze data, and improve organizational processes. In addition to the core, students select a 9-credit concentration that allows specialization in either a General track or a Systems Engineering track. The General concentration offers electives in areas such as engineering economics, decision analysis, project and risk management, lean six sigma, reliability engineering, data analytics, and supply chain optimization, enabling flexibility across industrial engineering applications. The Systems Engineering concentration focuses on systems thinking, systems engineering lifecycle processes, and model-based design, emphasizing integrated system development and management. A key component of the program is the research or project requirement, fulfilled through a dedicated simulation and systems course, with the option to extend into a research project or thesis for students pursuing deeper academic or doctoral pathways. Overall, the MSIE program emphasizes the integration of engineering principles, statistical analysis, optimization techniques, and systems thinking to develop professionals capable of improving efficiency, quality, and decision-making in complex industrial and organizational environments.
