COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Human Resources is a 36-credit graduate program designed to prepare professionals for advanced HR leadership roles by integrating strategic business knowledge with specialized human resource expertise. The program outcomes emphasize developing sophisticated understanding of HR and business management practices that support career success, along with the ability to apply strategic thinking as an effective business partner within organizations. Students are trained to make ethical, legal, and socially responsible decisions while also developing strong oral and written communication skills essential for leadership roles in human resources. Depending on the chosen concentration, additional outcomes are achieved; for the Organizational Leadership concentration, students learn to build and lead teams, enhance organizational effectiveness, and manage strategy and change initiatives while demonstrating influence in leadership contexts. The curriculum is structured around 21 credits of core courses that include business analytics, human resource management, strategic HR capstone experience, compensation administration, multicultural workplace issues, employment law, and organizational behavior, ensuring a strong foundation in both analytical and managerial aspects of HR. Students then complete a 12-credit Organizational Leadership concentration focused on leadership development, team building, organizational effectiveness, and change management, supported by psychology-based coursework in organizational development. Finally, a 3-credit restricted elective allows additional specialization through courses such as managerial communication, global economics, employee benefits systems, or public sector personnel administration, or by selecting a course from another concentration. Overall, the program is designed to produce HR professionals who can think strategically, lead organizational change, and integrate ethical decision-making with practical HR and leadership skills in diverse and evolving workplace environments while supporting long-term organizational success and workforce development.
