COURSE CURRICULUM

The STEM-designated Master of Science in Business Analytics is a 30-credit graduate program designed to prepare students for advanced careers in data analytics, business intelligence, predictive modeling, and strategic decision-making across multiple industries. The curriculum combines technical analytics training with business applications, enabling students to transform data into actionable insights that improve organizational performance, operational efficiency, customer value, and profitability. Students develop the ability to identify and rationalize appropriate data sources for specific business functions and research questions while learning how to prepare, organize, and analyze both public and commercial datasets to solve real-world organizational problems. The program emphasizes the development of analytical thinking and research skills, requiring students to formulate testable business questions and apply predictive analytics techniques to support strategic and operational decision-making. Students also learn how to communicate analytical findings effectively to non-technical audiences through written insights, dashboards, data visualization tools, and online presentations. The core curriculum consists of 21 credits focused on business analytics, database management, data mining, business forecasting, Power BI dashboarding, and data visualization and communication. Courses in machine learning, business intelligence, and forecasting provide students with practical expertise in handling large datasets, identifying trends, and developing predictive models. The program culminates in either a Business Analytics Capstone project or an internship experience that allows students to apply analytics techniques in professional business environments. The General concentration provides flexibility for students to customize their studies by selecting three elective courses from a wide range of specialized subjects including accounting analytics, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, supply chain management, logistics, quality management, hospitality analytics, applied econometrics, digital storytelling with Tableau, marketing analytics, social media marketing, global business, sport business analytics, leadership, and customer value analysis. Students may also explore courses from other Business Analytics concentrations depending on prerequisites and program approval. The program’s learning outcomes focus on data preparation, predictive analysis, business problem-solving, research development, and communication of analytics findings in visual and non-technical formats. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in business analytics, data science, consulting, operations management, marketing analytics, supply chain analysis, digital strategy, and business intelligence while equipping them with the technical expertise and communication skills necessary to succeed in data-driven organizations worldwide.
