COURSE CURRICULUM

A major component of the program is the substantial project requirement, which can be completed through a project-based course, an independent research project, or a formal thesis. Students pursuing project-based coursework complete extensive work in specialized focus areas such as biomaterials, tissue engineering, medical imaging, or digital image processing under faculty guidance. Alternatively, students may complete an independent research project by developing and proposing original work in areas that may extend beyond the formal curriculum, or they may pursue a two-part thesis involving advanced research under the supervision of a faculty advisor. These project experiences strengthen students’ abilities in research design, problem-solving, innovation, technical communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Throughout the program, students gain expertise in applying mathematics, science, engineering, and biomedical knowledge to identify and solve medical and healthcare challenges while learning to communicate technical findings effectively in both oral and written forms. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in biomedical device industries, biotechnology, healthcare systems, medical imaging, biomaterials research, pharmaceutical development, rehabilitation engineering, and advanced doctoral study in biomedical engineering and related scientific fields.
