COURSE CURRICULUM
The Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology is a graduate program designed to apply psychological science to improve workplace effectiveness, employee well-being, and organizational performance. It focuses on understanding human behavior in work environments and using evidence-based methods to address issues related to motivation, leadership, teamwork, conflict, recruitment, selection, training, and organizational development. A total of 42 graduate credits is required, consisting of 24 credits of core courses and 18 credits of advanced study completed through a thesis, internship or practicum, or approved elective pathway, depending on the student’s academic and professional goals. Core coursework typically includes organizational behavior, industrial psychology, research methods, statistics for psychological science, psychological testing and measurement, and seminars on contemporary issues in industrial and organizational psychology, along with options such as industrial relations or worker well-being. Students may specialize through a concentration in The Psychology of Conflict Management, which develops advanced skills in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution in workplace settings. This concentration includes key courses such as the psychology of conflict resolution and the psychology of negotiation and mediation, along with supporting electives in areas such as multicultural workplace issues, consultation, group dynamics, communication and influence, motivation, and global organizational psychology. The program offers flexible completion pathways, including thesis research, applied internships or practicums, or approved electives, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific career goals. Overall, it prepares graduates to manage workplace conflict, improve organizational relationships, and support healthy, productive work environments across diverse industries and cultural contexts.
