COURSE CURRICULUM

This Legal Studies (Dispute Resolution / Paralegal-track) curriculum is designed as a structured pathway into law-related careers and graduate study, typically within institutions such as the University of New Haven, and it combines legal doctrine, procedural training, communication skills, and social science foundations. Strong emphasis is placed on legal writing and research, which are central professional skills for paralegals and legal assistants, including the ability to analyze statutes, case law, and legal documents and to produce structured legal reports. Students also study constitutional law and government structure through courses in political science, ensuring they understand how law interacts with public institutions. Analytical reasoning is reinforced through required quantitative or research-methods coursework, often drawn from psychology or criminal justice, which builds skills in data interpretation and evidence-based reasoning.
