COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Intelligence Analysis at University of New Haven combines national security studies, intelligence operations, analytical training, and foreign language education to prepare students for careers in intelligence, homeland security, defense, law enforcement, and global risk analysis. The program requires completion of a 40-credit University Core Curriculum that includes communication, mathematics, psychology, history, science with laboratory work, foreign language study, and creative arts courses, providing students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation. Major courses focus on intelligence and security topics such as Introduction to National Security Studies, Intelligence Analysis, Incident Mapping and Analysis, National Security Capstone, and National Security Pre-Internship, helping students develop analytical reasoning, investigative abilities, and strategic problem-solving skills. Students also complete either Quantitative Applications in National Security or Problem Solving and Critical Thinking to strengthen analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities. A distinctive feature of the program is the required six credits of foreign language study, with encouragement to pursue minors in Arabic, Chinese, or Russian, reflecting the global and international nature of intelligence work. Restricted electives allow students to specialize in areas such as Open-Source Intelligence, Espionage, Intelligence Failures, Terrorism, Homeland Security, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Political Violence, and Advanced Intelligence Analysis. The curriculum also includes substantial free electives, enabling students to customize their education toward cybersecurity, criminal justice, international relations, languages, or data analysis. Practical learning is emphasized through internships, pre-professional preparation, and applied analytical coursework that mirrors real intelligence operations. As a STEM-designated program, it is particularly beneficial for students seeking analytical and technology-focused careers and provides extended professional opportunities for international students in the United States. Graduates are prepared for roles such as intelligence analyst, counterterrorism specialist, security consultant, military intelligence officer, homeland security analyst, and strategic risk analyst in government agencies, defense organizations, private intelligence firms, and multinational corporations.
