COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Finance combines a strong business foundation with specialized financial training to prepare students for careers in banking, investment management, corporate finance, financial analysis, risk management, and related business sectors. Students complete the Pompea College of Business core curriculum, which integrates quantitative reasoning, business analytics, economics, entrepreneurship, accounting, management, marketing, business law, ethics, and strategic decision-making into a comprehensive business education. The University Core Curriculum requirements include courses in applied business mathematics, business analytics, microeconomics, and macroeconomics, helping students develop analytical and economic understanding essential for financial decision-making in modern organizations. The 30-credit business core further strengthens professional preparation through coursework in financial and managerial accounting, business finance, organizational management, information and analytics systems, leadership development, marketing principles, business law, ethics and diversity, and a senior business capstone that integrates knowledge from multiple business disciplines. Specialized finance coursework focuses on advanced financial concepts and decision-making skills. Students study intermediate financial accounting to deepen understanding of financial reporting and analysis, while courses in financial decision making, credit and risk analysis, and financial analytics develop expertise in evaluating investments, managing financial risk, interpreting financial data, and applying quantitative methods to business problems. The finance capstone course uses case studies and real-world scenarios to strengthen strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and practical application of finance concepts in professional environments. Students also complete restricted electives in finance, accounting, business analytics, or economics, allowing them to tailor their education toward specific career interests such as investments, corporate finance, banking, or economic analysis. In addition, the program includes a significant number of free electives, giving students flexibility to explore complementary academic areas or broaden their professional skills.
