COURSE CURRICULUM
The Bachelor of Science in Engineering program is a STEM-focused, multidisciplinary degree designed to build strong foundational knowledge in mathematics, science, and engineering while also providing flexibility for students to explore specialized technical areas. The University Core Curriculum establishes a broad academic base through courses in academic writing, communication, physics with laboratory, general chemistry, engineering ethics and sustainability, historical perspectives, cultural awareness, and creative arts, along with a structured mathematics sequence covering Calculus I, II, and III. The major curriculum begins with introductory engineering concepts and laboratory-based chemistry, followed by essential engineering coursework in graphics or CAD, engineering analysis methods, technical communication, systems modeling, materials science, statics, mechanics of materials or thermal-fluid systems, and programming fundamentals in C or an approved programming elective. Students also study analog devices, engineering economics, project management, applied statistics, and complete a structured progression toward a senior capstone project that integrates technical knowledge into real-world engineering solutions. Practical experience is further emphasized through either an internship or an experiential education requirement, allowing students to apply classroom learning in professional environments. Advanced science requirements include general chemistry II with laboratory and physics covering electromagnetism and optics, ensuring strong scientific depth. The program also requires an engineering lab elective, technical electives within the College of Engineering, upper-level specialized electives, restricted electives, and free electives, giving students significant flexibility to tailor their education. A professional enrichment course further strengthens career readiness and industry awareness. Overall, the program is designed to produce well-rounded engineers who are capable of solving complex multidisciplinary problems, working across various engineering fields, and adapting to evolving technological and industrial demands through both strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience.
