COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics with a concentration in Sport Management at University of New Haven is a STEM-designated program designed to prepare students for data-driven careers in business analytics with a specialized focus on the sports industry. The program builds strong quantitative, technical, and business decision-making skills through a structured curriculum that begins with the 41-credit University Core Curriculum under the Pompea College of Business (PCoB). This core includes foundational courses in Applied Business Math, Introduction to Business Analytics, Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics, which develop students’ analytical reasoning and understanding of business environments. Students also complete the PCoB Business Core, which provides broad training in financial accounting, managerial accounting, business finance, marketing, management and organization, business law, ethics and diversity, analytics in the value chain, and professional development, culminating in a business capstone and enrichment experience that integrates classroom learning with practical application. The major requirements emphasize advanced analytics and quantitative methods, including dashboarding for management analytics, data visualization and communication, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, database management, econometrics, forecasting, knowledge management, and decision-making under uncertainty. These courses train students to collect, analyze, and interpret data to solve complex business problems and support strategic decision-making. The Sport Management concentration applies these analytical skills specifically to the sports industry through coursework such as Management of Sport Industries, along with two additional sport-focused electives including Financial Management in the Sport Industry, Sport Marketing, or Sport Event Management. This concentration prepares students to analyze sports organizations, improve operational efficiency, evaluate financial and marketing performance, and make data-informed decisions in athletic and entertainment settings. Free electives provide flexibility for students to explore complementary areas of interest. The STEM designation highlights the program’s strong emphasis on quantitative analysis, machine learning, and computational methods. Graduates are prepared for careers such as sports data analyst, business analyst, operations analyst, marketing analyst, performance analyst, and sports management professional. Overall, the program integrates business analytics with sport industry expertise to prepare graduates for modern, data-driven roles in the rapidly evolving global sports sector.
