COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics with a concentration in Managerial Economics at University of New Haven combines business analytics, economics, and quantitative decision-making to prepare students for careers in data-driven business strategy and economic analysis. Students complete the 41-credit Pompea College of Business University Core Curriculum, which provides a strong foundation in mathematics, analytics, economics, entrepreneurship, and critical thinking through courses such as Applied Business Math, Introduction to Business Analytics, Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics. Students also complete the Pompea College of Business core curriculum, which includes accounting, business finance, marketing, management, business law, ethics, analytics in value chains, and professional business development. These courses help students build leadership, communication, teamwork, and managerial problem-solving skills essential for modern business environments. The major requirements focus heavily on analytics, predictive modeling, data management, and business intelligence. Students study dashboarding for management analytics, data visualization and communication, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, database management, econometrics, business forecasting, knowledge management, and decision-making under uncertainty. Through these courses, students learn how to analyze data, identify patterns, build predictive models, and apply analytical methods to support business strategy and organizational performance. The program culminates in a senior project that allows students to apply business analytics concepts to practical business challenges and real-world data problems. The Managerial Economics concentration strengthens students’ ability to combine quantitative analytics with economic theory for strategic decision-making. Students complete advanced coursework in Microeconomic Analysis and Macroeconomic Analysis while also selecting an additional economics course such as Game Theory, Behavioral Economics, Public Finance, International Economics, or Environmental and Natural Resources Economics. These courses help students understand market behavior, economic systems, pricing strategies, policy impacts, resource allocation, and financial decision-making in domestic and global business environments. Free electives provide flexibility for students to further explore areas such as finance, supply chain management, marketing, or advanced analytics. Overall, the STEM-designated program prepares graduates for careers as business analysts, economic analysts, financial analysts, forecasting specialists, consultants, operations analysts, and business intelligence professionals while also providing strong preparation for graduate study in economics, analytics, finance, or business administration.
