COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Music Technology & Innovation provides students with a unique interdisciplinary education that blends music, technology, engineering, and creative expression to prepare them for modern careers in the evolving audio and entertainment industries. In addition to core music and music technology coursework, students select one of two specialized concentrations offered through the University’s Tagliatela College of Engineering. The Electronics concentration emphasizes the analog side of sound technology and includes studies in calculus, physics, and electrical engineering, helping students understand the scientific foundations of audio systems and acoustic technology. The Digital Systems concentration focuses on the digital aspects of sound and music production through coursework in computer programming, digital logic, and networking, allowing students to explore emerging technologies related to software, digital audio, and interactive media. Throughout the program, students combine artistic creativity with technical expertise, culminating in a capstone project that demonstrates both musical understanding and advanced technological skills. Faculty members are experienced artists, engineers, and media creators who actively contribute to the field, bringing real-world knowledge into the classroom while also mentoring students academically and professionally. The program strongly emphasizes experiential learning through hands-on projects in advanced recording studios and music technology labs where students design instruments, develop music software, compose original works, and experiment with innovative sound technologies. Students benefit from access to recording facilities that remain open around the clock, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and independent project development. The university’s Makerspace further enhances learning by providing tools and support for rapid prototyping and technological experimentation. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in the Nashville Study Away program, spending a semester in Nashville, Tennessee, a globally recognized center for music production and business. There, students take specialized courses and gain internship experience at the renowned Blackbird Studio, strengthening their industry knowledge, professional skills, and career readiness.
