COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering requires students to meet rigorous academic and course requirements totaling approximately 129 credits, including maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0 in all Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science (CS) courses for graduation, and students whose GPA in ECE courses falls below 2.0 for three semesters may not be allowed to continue in the major unless they successfully petition the department under exceptional circumstances. The curriculum begins with foundational courses in programming and computational methods, followed by core electrical engineering subjects such as electric circuits, digital systems, electronic design, computer organization, engineering analysis, electromagnetic fields, and signals and systems, ensuring a strong grounding in both theoretical and applied engineering principles. Students progress through increasingly advanced coursework, including multiple levels of electronic design and topics such as random processes and signal analysis, which develop their ability to design and analyze complex electrical systems. Supporting coursework in mathematics includes calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra, while physics courses provide essential knowledge of fundamental physical principles relevant to engineering applications, and an economics course adds perspective on resource and economic considerations in engineering contexts. In the final year, students complete a two-part capstone project, where they apply their accumulated knowledge to a comprehensive, real-world engineering problem, integrating design, analysis, and practical implementation skills. Additionally, students select four advanced 700-level ECE electives to specialize in areas of interest, allowing flexibility in shaping their expertise. Alongside these major requirements, students must complete general education or Discovery Program courses, ensuring a well-rounded education that combines technical depth, analytical skills, and practical experience for careers in engineering or advanced study.
