COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business and Economics (IBE) option within business administration is designed to prepare students to understand and operate in a global economy where business decisions are shaped by international markets, trade systems, and cross-border economic forces. In addition to the core business foundation courses—such as accounting, finance, marketing, statistics, management, and economics—this option adds specialized training focused specifically on how business works across countries. A key required course is ECON 645 (International Economics), which explains how global trade flows, exchange rates, tariffs, and international policies affect businesses and national economies. Another core course, MGT 655 (Doing Business Globally), focuses on the practical side of managing companies in different countries, including cultural differences, legal systems, and international business strategy. Students then choose additional electives such as international finance, international marketing, global supply chains, or cross-border management, allowing them to focus on areas that match their interests in global business. One of the most important parts of this program is the international experience requirement, which ensures students gain real exposure to global environments through study abroad, international internships, or faculty-led global programs. This experience helps students understand how business actually works in different cultural and economic settings rather than only studying it in a classroom. The program concludes with a capstone course in strategic management, where students apply everything they have learned to real business decision-making.
