COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance option within a Business Administration degree builds on the core business curriculum while providing specialized knowledge in financial decision-making, investment strategies, and financial markets, and students typically follow a structured plan of 16–18 credits per semester along with general education and electives, with early-semester limits to ensure a manageable academic load; all students first complete the business administration core, which includes courses such as ADMN 502 and ADMN 503 (financial and managerial accounting), ADMN 510 (business analytics and statistics), ADMN 570 (financial management), ADMN 585 (marketing), ADMN 410 (management information systems), and ADMN 575 (organizational behavior), along with foundational subjects like Economics through ECON 401 and ECON 402 and quantitative training via MATH 422 or calculus, plus professional development experiences like PAUL 405, PAUL 406, and PAUL 505 that focus on innovation, career planning, and applied learning; the program culminates in the capstone course ADMN 775 (Strategic Management), where students integrate knowledge across all business areas to solve complex real-world problems; the Finance option then adds 20 credits of specialized coursework, including two required courses—FIN 701 (Financial Policy), which focuses on corporate financial strategy and decision-making, and FIN 702 (Investment Analysis), which teaches how to evaluate stocks, bonds, and other financial assets—followed by three elective courses that allow students to tailor their expertise; students must choose at least one “core” elective such as real estate finance, derivatives, financial institutions, equity valuation, or financial modeling, and at least one “exploration” elective such as investment banking, big data in finance, auditing, or project-based experiences, ensuring both depth and practical exposure; overall, this option equips students with strong analytical, quantitative, and strategic skills needed for careers in banking, investment management, corporate finance, financial consulting, and related fields, while also preparing them for advanced certifications and graduate studies.
