COURSE CURRICULUM

The Entrepreneurial Studies option within a Business Administration degree builds on core business fundamentals while adding specialized courses focused on innovation, venture creation, and business growth, and the program follows a structured academic plan where students typically take 16–18 credits per semester alongside general education and electives, with limits in the early semesters to ensure a balanced workload; students first complete the business administration core, which includes courses in accounting, finance, marketing, information systems, analytics, and Economics through ECON 401 and ECON 402, along with quantitative training via mathematics courses like MATH 422 or calculus, and professional development experiences such as PAUL 405, PAUL 406, and PAUL 505 that focus on innovation, career exploration, and real-world problem-solving; the program culminates in the capstone course ADMN 775 (Strategic Management), where students integrate knowledge from all business areas to solve complex organizational challenges; the Entrepreneurial Studies option then adds a focused set of advanced courses totaling about 20 credits, starting with MGT 636 (Introduction to Entrepreneurship), which teaches how to identify opportunities and develop business ideas, followed by DS 741 (Startup Analytics) and DS 743 (Venture Scaling Strategies), which emphasize data-driven decision-making and growth strategies for new ventures, and finally MGT 733 (Launch Ready: The Entrepreneur’s Capstone), where students often develop and present a real business plan or startup concept; in addition, students choose one elective from areas like marketing analytics, new product development, finance, accounting, supply chain management, or negotiation, allowing them to tailor their entrepreneurial skill set based on career goals; overall, this option combines core business knowledge with hands-on, innovation-driven learning, preparing students to start their own ventures, work in startups, or drive innovation within established organizations.
