COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Biology at University of New Hampshire is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in biological sciences while developing analytical, laboratory, and research skills, requiring a total of 128 credits with at least a 2.0 GPA and a minimum grade of C- in all biology courses. The curriculum begins with a core sequence that builds essential knowledge across key areas such as molecular and cellular biology, evolution, ecology, genetics, and biochemistry, supported by related coursework in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and statistics to ensure a solid scientific background. Students also take a professional development course and a capstone companion course to prepare for advanced study and careers. Beyond the core, students must complete seven upper-level biology electives, allowing them to explore specialized topics in areas like anatomy and physiology, genetics and molecular biology, or ecology and biodiversity, with requirements ensuring exposure to both animal and plant-based systems. These electives offer flexibility and depth, enabling students to tailor their studies according to interests such as marine biology, microbiology, conservation, bioinformatics, or health sciences. A capstone experience in the senior year integrates prior learning through research, fieldwork, or applied projects, helping students gain practical experience and demonstrate their knowledge.
