COURSE CURRICULUM

The RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion program at the University at Albany is a 60-credit pathway designed for registered nurses who already hold an associate degree in nursing and want to advance their education and career opportunities. The program builds on prior academic and clinical experience by transferring applicable coursework from the associate degree and focusing remaining studies on upper-level nursing knowledge and professional development. Students complete approximately 39 credits in nursing major coursework along with additional electives and any general education requirements not previously fulfilled. The curriculum is structured to strengthen both clinical expertise and leadership capacity while expanding understanding of healthcare systems and population health. Core courses include Health Assessment and Health Promotion, Quality and Safety in Nursing, Informatics and Technology in Nursing, Population Health, Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice, Management and Leadership in Nursing, and Professional Role of Nurses. Students also study Statistics, Introduction to Public Health, Concepts of Epidemiology, and How U.S. Health Care Works: Myths and Realities, which provide essential knowledge of healthcare systems, data interpretation, and public health principles.
