COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cybersecurity program provides a strong blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare students for careers in protecting digital systems and data. The curriculum builds a solid foundation in core areas such as web technology, computer networks, information security, and cybersecurity policy. Students complete required courses including Technical Foundations of Cybersecurity, Information Systems Security and Assurance, Programming Essentials for Cybersecurity, Database Fundamentals and Security Principles, and Introduction to Computer Networks and Security, all of which develop essential technical and analytical abilities. Additional coursework such as Foundations of Cybersecurity Management & Policy, Exploring New Horizons in Cybersecurity, and a Senior Seminar helps students understand the broader strategic, ethical, and organizational aspects of cybersecurity. Research Methods in Cybersecurity and Elementary Statistics further strengthen students’ ability to analyze data and conduct research. A key feature of the program is experiential learning, where students choose from options such as internships, field experience, independent research, peer educator practicum, or a senior capstone, allowing them to apply their skills in real-world settings. Students also complete elective courses in specialized areas like secure software development, web application security, digital project management, cybersecurity policy and law, artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, and malware analysis. Overall, the program offers flexibility through different concentrations such as cyber defense, cyber risk management and policy, cyber operations, or a self-designed track. This comprehensive structure ensures that graduates are well-prepared for careers in government, industry, and nonprofit sectors, equipped to address modern cybersecurity challenges effectively.
