COURSE CURRICULUM

Students in the Art History and Film Studies program benefit from personalized support through one-on-one advisement and career counseling provided by experienced faculty, helping them navigate academic choices, internships, and future career paths. A key feature of the program is the opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience for academic credit through internships at well-known museums, galleries, and cultural institutions across New York. These experiences allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, develop practical skills, and build professional networks within the art world. Recent internship placements include prestigious institutions such as the Brooklyn Museum, the New York State Museum, and the Albany Institute of History and Art, as well as local and university-affiliated spaces like the Albany Center Gallery, the University at Albany Art Museum, and the University at Albany Library. Additional opportunities include placements at the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, the Empire State Plaza Art Collection, and the New York State Bureau of Historic Sites. Overall, these internship opportunities enhance students’ academic experience by providing valuable industry exposure, practical training, and a strong foundation for careers or graduate study in art history, museum work, and related fields.
