COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of society through the scientific study of social behavior, institutions, and relationships. The program emphasizes the development of analytical and critical thinking skills that allow students to examine how social structures such as family, education, economy, religion, and government influence individuals and communities. Through coursework in sociological theory, research methods, and social statistics, students learn to systematically analyze social patterns and interpret data to understand real-world social issues. The curriculum also explores specialized areas such as social inequality, race and ethnicity, gender studies, criminology, family dynamics, and global social change, helping students develop a broad and nuanced perspective on human society. A strong focus is placed on research skills, including both qualitative and quantitative methods, enabling students to design studies, collect and evaluate data, and apply evidence-based reasoning to social problems. In addition to core sociology courses, students complete interdisciplinary electives that may include anthropology, psychology, economics, geography, women’s and gender studies, and criminal justice, enhancing their understanding of complex social systems from multiple perspectives.
