COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiotherapy BS program is a structured 124-hour degree designed to prepare students for careers in clinical rehabilitation, health coaching, and exercise-based therapy across hospitals, VA medical centers, fitness facilities, and other healthcare environments. It is divided into general education requirements, a core professional curriculum, and additional supporting science and health courses that build strong foundations in human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, psychology, and exercise science. Students begin with general education courses in English composition, natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and mathematics, ensuring broad academic development before entering specialized training. The major coursework includes foundational subjects like fundamental principles of kinesiotherapy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, motor development, biomechanics, and health coaching in rehabilitation, followed by advanced clinical courses such as evaluation of physical trauma, exercise prescription for chronic diseases, and neurological and pathological foundations in kinesiotherapy. A key feature of the program is its extensive clinical experience requirement through THY 460, where students complete hands-on internships in real healthcare settings, developing practical skills in patient assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic exercise application. Students also complete a writing-intensive course in neurological and pathological foundations and a capstone clinical experience seminar that integrates academic learning with professional practice. Supporting requirements include anatomy and physiology, chemistry, medical terminology, statistics, psychology, and additional science electives to ensure interdisciplinary competence. Admission and progression depend on meeting GPA and course sequencing standards, and CPR certification is required before clinical training. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the Kinesiotherapy Registration Examination administered by the Council on Professional Standards for Kinesiotherapy, enabling them to work as registered kinesiotherapists or pursue advanced graduate study in fields like physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, or related healthcare disciplines.
