COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Operations Management is a 30-credit-hour graduate degree designed to be completed in 12 to 24 months, with all students expected to finish within a maximum of 24 months beginning in the summer semester. The program provides flexibility through two curriculum options: Operations Management (Traditional) and Operations Management with a Decision Analytics Concentration. All students complete a common 9-credit-hour core that builds foundational skills in statistical analysis, modeling, and simulation, including ST 560 Statistical Methods, OM 500 Management Science and Spreadsheet Modeling, and OM 540 Systems Simulation. After completing the core, students select one of the two program tracks to complete the remaining 21 credit hours. In the Traditional Operations Management track, students take advanced courses in key operational areas such as OM 517 Supply Chain Modeling and Analysis, OM 522 Operations Scheduling Problems, OM 523 Inventory Management, OM 527 Purchasing and Sourcing, and OM 525 Effective Quality Management, which together provide strong preparation in production systems, logistics, and process improvement. Students also select two approved electives from areas such as accounting, economics, finance, international business, leadership, or strategy, allowing for interdisciplinary development aligned with career goals. The Operations Management with Decision Analytics concentration integrates operations coursework with advanced statistical and data science training, combining prescriptive decision-making with modern data analytics techniques. This option includes courses such as Statistical Data Management, Advanced Data Management, Data Mining I and II, and electives from operations management subjects, emphasizing data-driven decision-making and predictive modeling. Both pathways may include applied learning opportunities such as capstone projects and electives in areas like project management, supply chain strategy, and quality systems. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in operations analysis, supply chain management, consulting, and business analytics by developing strong quantitative, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills applicable across a wide range of industries and organizational functions.
