COURSE CURRICULUM

Admission into the MS in Finance program is not restricted to students who completed an undergraduate degree in finance or a closely related field, meaning that candidates from a wide range of academic backgrounds can still succeed in the program. However, it is important to understand that the curriculum is built on the assumption that students already have a strong foundation in several core quantitative and analytical disciplines. Graduate-level finance courses typically rely heavily on prior knowledge of accounting principles, statistics, calculus, linear algebra, economics, and basic finance concepts, since these subjects form the analytical backbone for topics such as valuation, risk assessment, and financial modeling. In particular, students who have not previously studied calculus or microeconomics may find it challenging to keep pace with the mathematical rigor and economic reasoning required in advanced coursework. As a result, applicants are strongly encouraged to strengthen any weak areas before beginning the program, either through prerequisite coursework, self-study, or refresher courses, to ensure they can fully engage with the material. This preparation is especially important because MSF courses move quickly and assume fluency in quantitative problem-solving, financial analysis, and economic interpretation. While the program is designed to support students from diverse academic backgrounds, success ultimately depends on their ability to apply these foundational concepts in more complex and applied financial contexts.
